What is Biofeedback Training

Biofeedback Training

Biofeedback is the process of gaining greater awareness of  physiological functions primarily using instruments which provide information on the  accuracy of doing the activity , with a goal of being able to manipulate them consciously. Some of the processes that can be controlled include brainwaves, muscle strengthening, heart rate, and pain control.

Biofeedback training may be used to improve health, performance, and the physiological changes which often occur in conjunction with changes to thoughts, emotions, and behavior.

Eventually, these changes may be maintained without the use of extra equipment, even though no equipment is necessarily required to practice biofeedback, but the biofeedback tool used trains the individual to remember how to do the activity required.

biofeedback training has been found to be particularly effective in the treatment of both bowel and urinary incontinence.

Over 50% of people  are unable to contract their pelvic floor muscles when given written or verbal instruction.

In other words half of people who attempt to exercise and strengthen their pelvic muscles get it wrong! They are beaten before they even start to exercise their  pelvic floor muscles.

Most people have no idea where exactly the pelvic muscles are so giving instructions to exercise them is of little or no value to many  until they understand where the muscles are and more importantly how to exercise them correctly .

The result of getting the process wrong is after 2-3 weeks of continually attempting to exercise correctly, but  with no apparent improvement in their incontinence or strength pelvically, people tire of the regime and give up and resume the same condition they had before starting  out disappointed and frustrated.

Regrettfully this  happens to many people today all over the world who are suffering incontinence?

In fact about 20% of a population suffer incontinence of some sort.

Incredibly 70%  of people with the condition could actually recover and heal their own condition before it deteriorates even further. And if there is one sure thing - doing nothing about treating incontinence will mean the condition will worsen.

This is why biofeedback training is so valuable to bowel and urinary incontinence sufferers.

Why is that?

It teaches people:

1. Where their pelvic floor muscles are exactly.

2. How to contract and exercise these muscles correctly.

3. What their initial strength of the muscle is and records it accurately.

4. Shows the improvement each time they use the machine which aids their progress in recovery.

5. To remember how to do the exercises so when they leave they can self-manage.

6. Their improvements made and total strength gained by recording all gains.

Its benefits are:

1. No need to undress

2. Simple to use

3. Easy to understand

4. Is able to treat many people effectively and efficiently in 1 day

5. No probes

6. No drugs

7. No side effects
