Fibromyalgia used to be called fibrositis.The word means inflammation of the of muscle and connective tissue in the body.

Chronic inflammation as opposed to acute or short term inflammation in the body can cause secondary inflammation so it becomes a condition where more inflammation is created in response to an existing inflamed condition in any part of the body.
