In 1943 Dr. Kegel, a gynaecologist and Assistant Professor of Gynaecology University of Southern California School of Medicine, theorized by strengthening ,through exercise, the pelvic floor muscles, women could overcome their problems of incontinence.

"His practice was successful as many of his patients reported a decrease in urinary leakage and as a side effect some of his clients reported that they had an orgasm for the first time."

And thus began what today is known as Kegel Exercises.

A recent study published in Modern Medicine Magazine maintains Kegel exercises are safer and significantly more effective than medication for managing both stress and urge urinary incontinence than anything else.
